The setup

Rare in central Bangkok.

Most commercial gyms in central Bangkok treat powerlifting as an afterthought. A couple of squat racks crammed into a corner. Specialist bars locked away or absent entirely. Calibrated plates not part of the inventory. The result is that serious lifters in the Sukhumvit corridor end up commuting to On Nut, Phra Khanong, or further to find a setup that matches their training.

UnReal solved that by building a proper powerlifting bay into Floor 6 from day one. Two IPF-standard competition racks, two competition-grade benches, two dedicated deadlift platforms. The bay sits in a separate caged area, which means accessory work and beginner squat training happens on the adjacent racks rather than disrupting the comp setup.

The specialist bars (SSB, trap, cambered, axle) are on the floor and available to all members. The plate inventory exceeds 1,200 kg, with calibrated competition-spec sets for the lifters who care about the difference. Chalk is allowed and provided. The no-drop policy is suspended on the platforms for serious lifters.

What you'll find.

“If you can't find the bar you need here, you probably don't need it.”

Competition Racks

Two IPF-standard competition racks with multi-grip Westside-hole spacing and full safety systems. Walk-out height adjustable.

Competition Benches

Two competition-grade flat benches with uprights rated for maximum loads. Standard width, IPF competition spec.

Deadlift Platforms

Two dedicated deadlift platforms. Full rubber matting, chalk-friendly. No-drop policy suspended for serious lifters.

Squat Racks

Two additional squat racks separate from the powerlifting bay. Used for accessory work so the comp area stays clear.

Specialist Bars

Safety Squat Bar (SSB), trap bar / hex bar, cambered bar, axle bar. Because sometimes a standard barbell is not the right tool.

Calibrated Plates

Over 1,200 kg of plates including competition-calibrated sets. Every kilo accounted for.

Why UnReal

Rare in
central Bangkok.

Iron Hive runs powerlifting and S&C from Phra Khanong (further down Sukhumvit, no AC issue but a longer commute). Muscle Factory in On Nut has the hardcore identity but no AC and no IPF spec. UnReal sits in the gap: central, air-conditioned, IPF-standard, with Reset Club recovery one floor up.

For a lifter who works in the Sukhumvit corridor and wants to train hard without a 25-minute Grab each way, the location math alone makes UnReal the practical choice.

  • Central Bangkok location, 2 min from Phrom Phong BTS
  • No wait times on powerlifting equipment during off-peak hours
  • Coaches certified to IPF Coach II level on site
  • Chalk allowed (and expected) in the powerlifting area
  • Meet prep programming available from coaching team
  • Open 06:00 to 22:00 daily with no hidden closures

Meet prep at UnReal

From base block to platform.

Kaely runs powerlifting meet prep at UnReal. IPF Coach II, Thai national powerlifting athlete. The typical prep block runs 12 to 16 weeks across three phases: base strength (8 to 12 weeks of volume accumulation and technique work), peak block (4 to 6 weeks of intensity ramp toward opener attempts), taper and meet week (1 to 2 weeks of load reduction and attempt finalisation).

Meet-day support is included. Your coach is reachable for warmup pacing, attempt jumps, and decision points between attempts. The plan you have been running for 12 to 16 weeks gets executed, not reinvented in the moment.

First-time meets are common starting points. You do not need a national-level total to start. If your goal is the platform, the prep adapts to your current level and builds from there.

Coach Feature

FAQ

Common questions.

Is UnReal really set up for powerlifting?

Yes. Two IPF-standard competition racks, two competition-grade flat benches, two dedicated deadlift platforms with full rubber matting, specialist bars (SSB, trap, cambered, axle), and over 1,200 kg of plates including calibrated competition sets. The bay sits in a dedicated cage on Floor 6, separated from the accessory area so the comp setup stays clear.

Is chalk allowed?

Yes, chalk is allowed (and expected) in the powerlifting area on Floor 6. Clean up after your session. We provide chalk at the bay. Liquid chalk and block chalk both fine.

Why train at UnReal vs Muscle Factory?

Muscle Factory is a strong choice for hardcore bodybuilding in the On Nut area but it has no AC, no IPF-spec powerlifting setup, and no recovery centre. UnReal is central Sukhumvit (2 minutes from Phrom Phong BTS), fully air-conditioned, with IPF-standard racks and Reset Club ice bath one floor up. For serious lifters who care about competition-spec equipment and central location, UnReal is the choice.

Can I prep for a powerlifting meet here?

Yes. Kaely is IPF Coach II and a Thai national PL athlete. She runs meet prep from base block through opener selection, with full meet-week support. Typical prep is 12 to 16 weeks. See the dedicated powerlifting coach page for details.

Do I need to be advanced to train powerlifting here?

No. Several powerlifting members at UnReal started as recreational lifters with no platform experience. The IPF-standard equipment is available to all members regardless of strength level. Coaching is optional. If your goal is purely strength rather than competition, the setup still works.

What are the gym hours?

Staffed hours are 06:00 to 22:00, 7 days a week. Reset Club on Floor 8 runs 07:00 to 21:00 daily.
